Nigeria's goalkeeper Francis Uzoho is making headlines as the youngest goalie at this year’s World Cup.
According to Konbini, Uzoho is one of seven 19-year-olds competing during the tournament. He began his career as a forward on Nigeria's under-17 team when he was 14 years old.
Uzoho ended up on the national team when another goalkeeper couldn't compete after being diagnosed with acute leukemia.
Before the team's make-or-break game against Iceland, the teen was unbothered about the responsibility that fell on his shoulders as a "first choice" goalkeeper.
“I know what Nigerians expect from their goalkeepers. I just try for now not to think about them so it won’t get to me,” Uzoho told the Daily Post Nigeria.
He was on to something because Nigeria managed to squeeze out a victory after a scoreless first half, and the fans couldn't have been happier:

Ahmed Musa has brought more joy to Nigerians in 90 minutes than Buhari has brought to Nigeria in three years. No blame game. No excuses. The guy just scored. And to prove it was not a fluke, he scored again.
