Youtube duo Diamond and Silk stumped for Donald Trump during the 2016 presidential campaign and was paid for it too.
There have been numerous reports stating that the stars are known as Lynnette Hardaway and Rochelle Richardson— or Diamond and Silk— were not paid by the Trump campaign for their appearances. However, an amendment to the campaign’s 2016 FEC report that was released in May, reveals the two were cut a check for $1,300.00 for their “field consulting” work. That check was apparently cut after the election was won.
According to ABC News, a Trump spokesperson said in April 2016 that Diamond and Silk “have never been paid by the campaign, which you can verify in our FEC reports. There is no connection with Ace. We very much appreciate the unwavering support and enthusiasm, from Diamond and Silk.” In addition to being paid, there is also Trump-inspired merchandise on the stars' website that was supplied by the Trump campaign. Gizmodo reported that Ace Specialties was reportedly paid more than $2 million for the campaign swag.
The duo made a name for themselves by being vehement supporters for Trump by promoting policies, attacking critics, attacking President Barack Obama and Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and making appearances on conservative news programs.
In 2016, Diamond and Silk appeared at Trump rallies in Mississippi, South Carolina, and Iowa drawing thousands. They also were guests at the wedding of White House political aide Omarosa Manigault in April.
