This summer has been one for the books! It’s hard to believe that it’ll be over next week. We got new music from Beyoncé, saw Nicki Minaj accept the Video Vanguard award at the MTV Video Music Awards and so much more. Given all the exciting things that have transpired over the past few months, we’re looking forward to what the fall has in store.
However, before we do that, let’s take a walk down memory lane of some of our favorite viral tweets that have kept us entertained through it all.
The Obamas
“I want to thank Sharon Sprung for capturing everything I love about Michelle. Her grace, her intelligence – And the fact that she’s fine.” – Barack Obama on Michelle’s portrait pic.twitter.com/KaQ98z0R72

There’s only one thing that’s more beautiful to watch than the love of Barack and Michelle Obama. You guessed it: seeing Mr. Obama express said love to his wife while she blushes in the background. Black love is beautiful, and we love to see it!
Black love with a hint of Beyoncé

Now, this is how you simultaneously slay and surprise your husband. What a beautiful way to express one’s love for their partner. The Beyoncé tribute is just the cherry on top. Congratulations to this newlywed couple.
And the award for best dressed goes to...
We can all agree Texas sucks, but Steve Sarkisian’s wife is the FASHION ICON WE DIDN’T KNOW WE NEEDED pic.twitter.com/yW24tYif6w

One thing Stephanie Sarkisian did? That! Black women are the flyest beings to grace the earth, and that’s a scientific fact.
Legends serenading Legends
It’s Usher serenading the legendary Anita Baker with ‘Superstar’ at his Vegas Residency for me!pic.twitter.com/uZnfHlUkLW

Paying homage to one’s predecessors is so essential, and it’s good to see Usher realize that. We love that he was able to give Ms. Anita Baker her flowers in such a meaningful way.
The beauty of allyship
Shout out to the Black girls who I knew in high school. To the girls, who never questioned my sexuality, but instead gave me a knowing smile and the biggest hug. To the girls who’d fight for me, to the girls who saved room for me to be me…thank you…from the bottom of my heart🤎 pic.twitter.com/KT3XWBxCbp

We’re not crying, you are. Shoutout to all the Black women who make space for their queer friends to simply exist without fear of judgment. Here’s to loving on our friends in every way we can.

Jennifer Hudson is a newly minted EGOT recipient, and we couldn’t be more proud! What a fantastic achievement to add to her long list of well-deserved accolades.
Working from home

In this new work-from-home period that most of us are in, many of us can relate to these faces. The constant Zoom meetings and virtual hangouts have so many of us fatigued, so it’s nice to be able to laugh about it.
Icons portraying icons
Let’s get the movie made y’all. I’m ready to ACK, let’s weep in the theaters 😩 https://t.co/DkIjYyhZfX

Keke Palmer? As Whitney Houston? We are here for this! It’s always a lovely sight to see an icon portraying an icon.
Secret admirers
Just in case you didn’t know, there’s somebody out there that reacts just like this when they think about how fine you are: pic.twitter.com/G9uQBXsmly
— ɳick 🔋 (@Creat1ve) August 2, 2022
Listen, we all have a secret admirer pining over us. This is your sign to tell that person you’ve been feeling them! You never know, that could be your new bae.
Paying homage to our queer elders
Dedicating Renaissance to uncle Johnny is particularly beautiful bc black families so often don’t talk about our gay relatives who died of AIDS. To celebrate him rather than hide him away? That’s PRIDE.
— Cameron J. Awesome (@cameronjawesome) July 29, 2022
Renaissance is a beautiful album for many reasons, including Beyoncé’s tribute to her late uncle Johnny. Let’s follow suit and continue to pay homage to our queer elders who’ve positively impacted us and the world.
