nullThe Independent Filmmaker Project (IFP) has announced the 5 nominees for the 4th annual Gotham Independent Film Audience Award

To be eligible, a US film must have won an audience award at one of the top 50 US or Canadian film festivals from December 2012 through October 2013.

The nominees, two you’ll immediately recognize, are: 12 Years A Slave, Fruitvale Station, Best Kept Secret, Don’t Stop Believin’: Everyman’s Journey and Jake Shimabukuro: Life On Four Strings

And since it’s called the Audience Award, that means YOU get to choose the winner.

How? By voting for your favorites… how else?!

The finalists for the award will be selected based on how many votes each receives, and those films and filmmakers will all be invited to attend the Gotham Awards, where the winner will be announced live, at the Gotham Awards ceremony on December 2.

IFP’s Gotham Independent Film Audience Award, in partnership with Festival Genius, showcase films from the festival circuit that have captured audience attention and passion,” said Joana Vicente, executive director of IFP and the Made in NY Media Center by IFP.

“We are very proud to provide this platform for audiences to vote for their favorite films of the year and recognise the winner as part of the Gotham Independent Film Awards.”

Voting to select a final winner started today, November 8 and ends on November 24. To cast your vote online now, go to: http://gotham.ifp.org/audience_award.
