Yes I know what you’re saying…what ANOTHER article about 12 Years A Slave?

Yes, but this is especially for our readers who live in
the Chicagoland area. All the rest of you can move on.

But you did read that correctly,
Steve McQueen’s 12 Years A Slave
will be shown at the this year’s 49th Annual Chicago International Film Festival before its nationwide
theatrical in October.

The film will be presented on Sunday Oct 13th at 7PM at the AMC River East 21 Theaters, where all the films for this year’s festival
will be screened.

As this time, no one associated with the film is scheduled
to be present, but that is subject to change.

And a word of advice – get your tickets ASAP. Both screenings of 12 Years A Slave at the New York Film Festival on Oct. 8th sold out literally in
matter of hours the same day that tickets went on sale, and there’s no reason why
it won’t happen in Chicago as well.

Aside from The Inevitable
Defeat of Mister and Pete
and Grisgris
which I reported about here, there are quite a number of other films that will
be shown at this year’s CIFF which I will report about over the next several days, as
well as panel discussions, and
Spotlight Africa at the Black Cinema House on the afternoon of
Oct. 13th, which will feature African directors whose films will be
showing at CIFF.

Stay tuned right here.
