The 2013 Rwanda Film Festival has unveiled its impressive shortlist of films we have covered and/or reviewed on its site. We will return to any specific titles that we haven’t profiled individually. 

The festival, which runs July 20-26 in the state-of-the-art multiplex cinema in the city of Kigali, the Festival received a total of 284 films from all over the world. 
This year’s theme “Our Mothers, Our Heroes,” focuses on films “that collectively provided a holistic representation of women.” Among the titles selected are Mama Africa, Desert Flower, Virgin Margarida, Le Bonheur D’elza, Ladies’s Turn, Something Necessary, Nairobi Halflife and Middle of Nowhere
