Actor Brett Gray did not hold back about his thoughts regarding this generation’s dating habits while on Instagram Live.
The On My Block star discussed the difference between “talking” and “dating,” making it very clear he was not a fan of the former, expressing that it’s for kids or people who don’t want to commit.
“Talking is not a thing. Let's go out," he said. "Talking is an excuse to not commit to somebody that you like and are sexually, or otherwise, attracted to and you are just postponing the time in which you have to give more effort and that’s not okay."
Ok, so @brettgray hit the nail on the head about the “talking stage”. Modern dating has become complicated with so many unnecessary stages before committing. I’m tired of it. pic.twitter.com/7SWbUWynf0

The 23-year-old said people need to be clear about their intentions, whether they want it to be a “Netflix and chill” situation or something more.
“We are confusing the lines here people. This is not it,” he said. “Here’s the other thing, if you want to talk to me, it’s not real. We either know what we’re doing or we don’t. Either we’re going to be cuddy buddies and we’re both going to know that … and that’s cool, that’s cool. There’s nothing wrong with that.”
If Gray is into a girl, he will be taking them on a date. According to him, it won’t take long to know where he stands.
“If I meet you and I like you and we’ve been texting every day … After about four or five days of that, I need to see you because that’s about time for a first date. We go out, we have dinner, we see if we can last with each other alone. By the end of that first date, we will both know,” he said.
Many people applauded the Philadelphia native for his way of thinking.
This man is exactly right. Way too many times ppl assume dating when it’s talking or assume talking when it’s dating. Be up front. If you tryna get at me get at me. Cause I’m not gonna make any bones about what I’m after.

Men created the “talking stage” so they don’t actually have to pay for dates.

During the same livestream, he also gave advice to those who have been rejected by a love interest. His trick — look at it like shopping for clothes.
“If you’re trying to shoot your shot with somebody and they say no to you, it’s just like if you go to the store and there’s not a shirt in your size. You wouldn’t come home and be mad about the shirt for weeks or never want to go buy another shirt,” he said. “It ain’t that deep. If people say no, good at least I know it’s not you and live your best life.”

With Gray dishing out great dating advice many questioned his own relationship status. While livestreaming with a fan one day, he made it very clear.
“How’s your love life going Brett?” the fan asked.
“I don’t have a love life. I have a work life. I’m in love with these checks,” Gray said.

“Girls are tricky because girls say that they want that then they see people like me and they just don’t want that, because I’m sweet. I’m nice, I’m not going to argue with you, I’m not going to cuss you out, I’m going to listen, I’m going to buy you stuff,” he said. “I’ve had girls come over to my house and be like ‘oh you’re too clean.’ What? Is that not what you want?”
