Bringing in the new year with a positive mindset and outlook is like pressing the reset button on your life. The opportunities are limitless and changes are inevitable but you have a fresh start and anything that you want to work toward can be accomplished. A vision board can help you keep your goals and inspire you to keep going if you’re feeling complacent. All of the images of words, places you want to visit, goals you want to meet being in one place can maintain your positivity and keep you focused on the moves you’re trying to make.

A few years ago I would make New Year’s resolutions, but by January 4th they were forgotten. Three years ago a friend put me on to vision boards, meditating over it, remaining positive and letting life unfold. I am not an expert on this by any means, however, this process has worked well for me. And when I don’t have a poster board, I create one on my phone. You can create one every few months or you can create one that is for the whole year.

Here’s what you need to do:

1. Grab a poster board and as many pictures as you can

Find pictures of anything and everything that represents what you want to accomplish. It doesn’t matter if it’s of words, a picture that you love, part of an ad that grabbed your attention or anything that speaks to you. Cut it out and grab your glue!

2. Create your collage

Take all of the images that you have that represent your goals and paste them to your poster board in any way that you want. Before you know it, you’ll run out of space on one side. Let it dry, start over on the other side and admire your work.

3.  Show it off.

Place your vision board somewhere that you can see it daily. Being able to see what you’re working toward every day makes your goals more attainable and keeps you motivated. Don’t worry about reaching all of your goals in a specific time frame. Beyonce’s empire wasn’t created in a day and yours won’t be either. Take it one day at a time. You’ll get there.

What are some of the goals that you want to put on your vision board?
