2 British films we've covered are now available here in the USA on DVD/Blu-ray/VOD, with a third one on the way, scheduled for an end-of-the-month Stateside release.
All 3 are Revolver Entertainment products made via its inhouse production arm, Gunslinger, a relatively new venture launched in 2009. All three have been released theatrically in the UK, and, as already noted, have been covered by S&A: Shank, Anuvahood, and Sket.
Call them low-budget (under $1 million) "urban-themed" genre pics – each doing well for the company in UK theatrical box office, despite the fact that Gunslinger took some chances in hiring first-time directors on all 3, as well as fresh talent in front of the camera.
"It's important to us to support local U.K. talent," Revolver CEO Justin Marciano says, as the company plans to expand its reach outside of the UK, with plans to produce more work with "a more international flavor."
In the meantime, look for Shank on DVD, Anuvahood on DVD, Blu-ray and VOD, and Sket on all 3 platforms starting May 29th.
Recapping… first, Shank.
Synopsis: In a London of the future, 2015, the gap between rich and poor has grown to epic proportions and food has replaced drugs and guns as a priceless commodity. Junior (Kedar Williams-Sterling) and his gang the Paper Chaserz trade in ‘munchies’ but stay away from the territory disputes and the violence. A tip-off about a food delivery leads to a conflict with a rival gang and the death of one of their own. Now Junior has to decide whether to stay true to his principles or whether to drag them all into a quest for revenge that could get them killed.
Shank is music video director Mo Ali’s first feature film. It’s from the same company that released Noel Clarke’s Kidulthood.

Second, Anuvahood. Synopsis reads: Kenneth (who likes to call himself Kay) begins to realise he's just another wannabe bad boy… even less than a loser in fact. After quitting his job at Laimsbury's, Kay vows to become a respected gangster… or cry trying. A pulls-no-punches, coming-of-age story, centering on one directionless hopeless 'shotter', who finds his true worth in the face of urban adversity.

And finally, Sket, which stars some of the UK’s young black talent, like Ashley Walters, Richie Campbell, Adelayo Adedayo, and Riann Steele.
The film centers on a young white woman who is cruelly attacked by a notorious gang and the relentless efforts her teenage sister makes to avenge her. The younger sibling goes as far as joining a rival girl gang led by the volatile and damaged man-hating Danielle.
