Shortly before his unexpected death, Chadwick Boseman married his wife Taylor Simone Ledward.

Prior to their marriage, the pair had been together for five years according to Today. The couple, who kept their relationship mostly private, was first spotted together in 2015 at Los Angeles International Airport. Ledward’s grandmother confirmed the relationship in 2018, saying “they respect each other. She’s very happy, and he is, too.”

Although Boseman and Ledward didn't publicly announce their marriage, the couple is believed to have gotten engaged in October in Malibu, California. The actor's family confirmed the couple's marriage after he died on Friday.

"He died in his home with his wife and family by his side," the family stated.

Ledward keeps most of her life private, but here are some of the details known about her.

1. Ledward Wants To Be A Singer

The aspiring artist graduated from Cal Polytechnic University Pomona in 2014, majoring in music industry studies, according to Page Six. While studying music, Ledward served as lead singer of the school jazz band. The musician isn't known for any particular song, but she is believed to have been a participant on the singing competition show, The X Factor.

According to Heavy, the 29-year-old has now deleted her LinkedIn page, but her resume included a job at Insomniac Events as a music event promoter.

2. Ledward Keeps A Low Profile On Social Media

The low-profile celebrity wife has set her Instagram page to private, but she has a bio which states “To thine own self be true.” According to Heavy, Ledward has also posted a link to an article by poet Caroline Randall Williams, titled “You Want a Confederate Monument? My Body Is a Confederate Monument.”

The singer, who named her professional Facebook page SongsbySimone, has deleted her account. She has also erased her SoundCloud page, Heavy reported.

3. The Couple Made A Few Public Appearances Together

Ledward and Boseman weren't seen together often, but they were spotted together at some major events. One of those events being the Screen Actors Guild Awards in January 2019.

They were also photographed at the NBA All-Star Game in Chicago in February, which turned out to be the last known photo they took in public together.

Boseman, who rarely talked about his wife publicly, acknowledged his lover after earning recognition at the NAACP Image Awards, being named Outstanding Actor in a Motion Picture for his role in Black Panther.

“Simone, you’re with me every day," he said. "I have to acknowledge you right now. Love you.”

The T'Challa actor kissed his lover before going on stage to accept the award.

Although the pair attended the Academy Awards in 2018, they didn't pose for a photo together on the red carpet, US Weekly reported

4. Ledward's Family Had Blessed Her Relationship

After Ledward's grandmother confirmed the couple's relationship the widow's sister also praised the union. The sibling expressed her approval when she commented on a photo of Boseman and his co-star Lupita Nyong’o.

“His real life queen is gorgeous, and together they embody true love," the sister said. "Not to mention they would make some beautiful babies.”

The comment was then deleted, according to Heavy.
