As the community in Buffalo, New York, tries to recover from the recent racist mass shooting, here are four ways to help support those affected.

Donate.

The Tops Friendly Market serviced the surrounding Buffalo community, however, it has remained closed since the shooting. Organizations are now stepping up to provide groceries to community members. FeedMore WNY partnered with the Resource Council of WNY to distribute food donations. People can donate here

Mayor Byron Brown also directed people in a tweet to send donations to  helpbuffalo@thepartnership.org or call 716-541-1701.

GoFundMe also launched a centralized hub for fundraisers they verified by their Trust & Safety team.

Vote.

The 2022 midterm elections will be on Tuesday, Nov. 8. Voters can urge their representatives and senators to vote in favor of measures and policies to enforce sensible gun laws.

Provide emotional support.

Allow community members to openly express their thoughts, feelings and perspective about what happened and what they believe should be done to prevent another tragedy.

For those who feel emotionally overwhelmed, you can encourage them to call the national Disaster Distress Hotline at 1-800-985-5990, which is available 24/7.
