On Monday, the cast of the wildly popular Broadway musical, “Hamilton” was invited to The White House for a one-of-kind experience with the President, First Lady, and students from the local DMV area. The day was designed in an effort to celebrate and bring awareness to the arts and all it’s potential to cultivate the minds and hearts of American students. Between the student workshops, Q&A’s, and special performances, a particular freestyle rap performance between President Barack Obama and the lead actor in “Hamilton,” Lin Manuel Miranda was captured and will go down as probably one of the coolest White House moments in history.

As Miranda spit rhymes off the top, he was given cue cards of words to use by none other than President Obama. Whether it was nerves or the sheer authenticity of the moment, Miranda miraculously made it through the performance with less than a few stumbles along the way. The cherry on top to the nearly 2-minute video was the iconic mic drop, which we can only hope was in reference to how Obama plans to end his final months as president.
One can only hope that with a collaboration like this, a White House cypher could make it’s way to the streets once the Obama family sees it’s way out of the Oval Office.
If the POTUS did drop a mixtape, what do you think it could be called? Tell us in the comments!
