Rapper DMX has been receiving prayers and support from his industry peers and fans around the world while he remains in hospitalized from a heart attack suffered on Friday. The artist, who was rushed to the critical unit after a drug overdose triggered the heart attack, has amassed millions of admirers while persevering through the trials and tribulations of his life and providing decades of memories, as Blavity previously reported.
He has not only entertained his fans with music through the years, but also inspired the world with his faith and his messages. At times, the artist has also brought humor in much-needed times.
Here are some of our favorite DMX moments.
1. Holding a virtual bible session during quarantine
As the nation struggled with having the highest number of COVID-19 diagnoses
pandemic, DMX held a virtual Bible study on Instagram Live and preached to more than 14,000 viewers.

“A time for embracing, and a time to avoid embracing,” the 50-year-old said as he read from Ecclesiastes. “A time for embraces and time for avoiding embraces."
He then paused to reflect on the verse, which brought an added meaning in a time of quarantine.
"What! Come on,” the rapper said as he reflected on the message.
As he proceeded with the sermon, the hip hop legend encouraged his viewers to keep the faith and believe in the will of God despite the challenges caused by the pandemic.
2. Delivering prayer during the Bad Boy Reunion Tour
The music icon also stepped up as a spiritual leader when he delivered a one-of-a-kind prayer to kick off the Bad Boy Reunion Tour in 2016.
"Father God, we thank you for this gathering of souls. The word says that when two or more gather in your name you are present, so we thank you for your presence. We ask that your grace and blessings are upon this show this evening. We pray that any obstacle the devil plans to place in our path are removed in the name of Jesus!” DMX said. “We pray that there are no fightings, no stabbings, no shootings, no arrests, no drunk drivings, no altercations or incidents whatsoever!”
According to Vibe, the prayer took place shortly before Puff Daddy and the rest of the Bad Boy family took the stage for the reunion tour in Chicago.
3. Responding to the #DMXChallenge
In the summer of 2019, the rap legend reacted to social media users who were taking part in the DMX Challenge. The people who participated in the trend used the rappers 2000 song, “What These B***hes Want," in which he rattles off a list of women's names.
Putting together photos and clips of themselves in various hairstyles, the women taking part in the trend switched the images to the song’s lyrics to suggest that they're a different person with every hairstyle.
DMX apparently loved the creativity.
"I see ya not done yet #dmxchallenge keep em coming!" he wrote on Instagram while sharing the videos.
He continued to have fun with the challenge when he later posted a meme on Instagram, with a caption saying "me tryna figure out what these b***hes want from a n***a."
"Somebody let me know!!!! DOG!!" the artist wrote while posting the meme.
4. The Ruff Ryder creates a "Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer" remix
In another classic moment, the musician famously created a remix of "Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer" in 2017. According to Time, the artist first gave a sample of the remix during an interview in 2012.
His 2017 song was released on Spotify as part of a collection of one-off covers of Christmas classics, featuring several other singers.
5. Battling Snoop on Verzuz
The "X Gon' Give It To Ya" rapper faced off with Snoop Dogg in an unforgettable July Verzuz battle. Fans were ecstatic to see the artists on the program, celebrating the joy of seeing two Black icons showcase their classics while uplifting one another.
Snoop offered DMX chicken fingers before the start of the show and DMX went on to lead the duo in prayer.
The icons battled with classics such as "Money, Power & Respect," "Drop It Like It's Hot," "P.I.M.P," "What's My Name," "Beautiful" and "How's It Goin' Down."
Fans went to social media following the battle to express how joyed they were to see DMX still performing despite his struggles with drugs.
