The fifth annual Brazilian Film Festival of London is set
and raring to go, starting at the end on the month, on Sept. 27th, and continuing through
Oct. 3.

Some 13 feature films and 12 short films will be screened
at the festival, all of which are UK premieres.

Among the highlights for this year’s festival are Rio 2096, A Story of Love and Fury (Dir. Luiz Bolognesi) an animation
feature in which the lead character lives through the most radical moments in
Brazilian history, spanning 600 years, and Jango
Report
, by director Paulo Henrique
Fontenele
, which takes a historical look at one of Brazil’s most left wing
former presidents, João Goulart’s
time in exile.

The festival’s closing night film will be Brazilian Western, from director Rene Sampaio, which is described as “a story
of love, hate and revenge based on the famed song Faroeste Caboclo by musician
Renato Russo, one of Brazil’s most important punk rock artists.

The film was a recent box office hit in Brazil, and also
recently shown at the Toronto International
Film Festival
. Both the Sampaio and lead actor Fabricio Boliveira (pictured above-left) will be attending the festival.

In in addition to the films, there will be, for the first
time, a food event called Brazilian Taste, described as a sumptuous ‘taste’ festival where the public will be able to experience Brazil-inspired dishes at a selection of partnering restaurants across London.
