Six people are dead and several others are injured after a Walmart manager in Chesapeake, Virginia, opened fire at the store, WAVY reports. The gunman, whose identity has not been released, also died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound when the shooting unfolded within an hour of the store’s scheduled closing time on Tuesday night, police said.

The shooter opened fire in a break room before turning the gun on himself, sources told CNN. One employee who narrowly escaped the attack recorded himself in a video and told his account of the incident while standing in the parking lot of the chaotic scene. The witness said he heard gunshots about five minutes after he left the breakroom.

“He’s a coward,” the employee said about the shooter. “You killed people that did nothing to you.”

One woman who can be heard sobbing in the witness’ video said her son is still in the store.

Speaking to reporters, Police Chief Mark Solesky said the gunman used a pistol to carry out the attack. Two people died after being taken to the hospital. Two others remain in critical condition, while another person is listed in good condition. One other victim is also being treated, but the patient’s condition is not known.

One witness who spoke with WAVY said there were 14 employees in a meeting room when the shooting happened. The witness also said the gunman was targeting other managers at the store.
