A young 7-year-old hero was at the right place and at the right time in Sacramento, California, to save a toddler at the bottom of a pool.

It was a typical pool day for Massiah Browne at his apartment complex swimming pool with relatives when he noticed something unusual.

“I was just playing in the pool and then I saw a boy at the bottom of the pool,” Browne told Good Morning America. “And I went to go get him.”

The second grader was in the pool with a 9-year-old aunt named Savannah at the time of seeing the boy drowning in the pool. Browne swam down to the bottom of a 6-feet deep pool to rescue the boy.

Browne’s mom, Tiara Delvalle, said she rushed to the pool after receiving calls from relatives who were with her son during the incident.

Browne said he could see the 3-year-old boy, a stranger, at the bottom of the pool with his mouth and eyes open. Browne grabbed the child by the arm and pulled him to the pool’s surface.

Savannah helped Browne get the boy onto the pool deck, where they were met by eager adults who called 911.

“Savannah brought him to his mom, and then they did CPR on the boy and then they called the doctor,” Browne said.

The Sacramento Fire Department’s spokesperson confirmed that first responders responded to a 911 call at the apartment complex’s pool on July 19.

“The child was transported in critical condition with advanced life support efforts provided by Sacramento firefighters,” the spokesperson said.

Delvalle and the mother of the boy have stayed connected since the incident.

“It’s a miracle,” Delvalle said of the boy’s survival.

Browne’s father, Marcus Browne, mentioned that although his son swims like “a fish,” he was shocked by son’s his heroic efforts.

“I just couldn’t believe it,” Marcus said.

Marcus shared that his son also has a superhero nickname, “Siah Fire.” “He’s a good kid,” the proud dad said.
