If you want that truth on how something tastes, looks, feels, etc, ask a small child that hasn't learned to turn off their filter yet. They will keep it all the way real, no emotions attached.
Earlier this month, 7-year-old Jaden from Portland, Oregon, was just trying to catch a flight with his family for some fun at Disneyland. Unfortunately, a winter storm hit the city the day of their flight which led to a little one-on-one time with Jaden and KGW reporter Drew Carney. Immediately, you can see the confusion on Jaden's face as Carney came close to him. It wasn't the camera or the mic but Carney himself. He literally pulled a Mariah Carey "I don't know her" and it is hilarious.
“I didn’t really see you on TV that much,” Jaden said to Carney. “Lester Holt? Usually you see him more on the news than you.”
Jaden is used to watching NBC Nightly News with his grandmother which means he is used to one anchor only, Lester Holt. Although Drew Carney wasn't the person he wanted to speak with, he was nice enough to arrange a meeting between Jaden and his favorite anchor.
This past Tuesday, Jaden and his family paid a visit to 30 Rock in New York City where they paid a visit to NBC's "Nightly News with Lester Holt" and took a tour of the studio and the newsroom. According to NBC, Jaden's mother shared with Holt that he was one of two people of color Jaden looked up to–the other is former President Barack Obama. "Every day, he would watch the news and see Lester and say, 'Looks like me, looks like me, looks like me!"
After meeting the staff and getting a chance to recite the signature "Nightly News" introduction from Holt's chair, the two found out there shared a common interest in music. Jaden, who plays violin was asked by Holt, a bassist, to bring along his instrument for a little jam session.
