Chiwetel Ejiofor and Michael B. Jordan are both in talks to star in director John Hillcoat’s (The Road) crime drama Triple Nine, alongside Casey Affleck, Christoph Waltz and Cate Blanchett.
Set to film next year, the story revolves around “an L.A. heist in which a group of thieves plan to kill a cop (a “Code 999” in police parlance) to divert authorities from their own crime scene across town.”
Ejiofor is eyeing the role of the mastermind behind the robbery, while Jordan would be playing a street-wise cop who teams with the thieves to set up Affleck’s targeted officer.
Keith Redmon, Brad Dorros and Steve Golin of Anonymous Content are producing the movie with Megan Ellison on board to finance through her Panorama Media production company.
Both Ejiofor and Jordan are on the tail-end of a strong 2013, which saw both actors star in 2 of the most-talked about films of the year in 12 Years A Slave (Ejiofor) and Fruitvale Station (Jordan).
