This post is part of an ongoing #BlackFuturesMonth18 series in February with the Black Lives Matter Network, exclusively shared on Blavity, that aims to explore what the Black feminist future can and should look like for all of us.

Welcome to the second week of #BlackFuturesMonth18! This week we present TWO pairs of awesome artistic collaborations. We are excited to present the works of this week's first pair, Aja Monet and Yemonja Smalls.

Aja Monet is an internationally established poet and educator (her riveting delivery of the poem, "Garner," is in the video above), and Dr. Yemonja Smalls is an emerging Chicagoland, and now, Baltimore artist, who has been creating since she could hold a crayon in her hand. Their collaboration lifts up the name and memory of Erica Garner.
