A Kendrick Lamar biography is in the works and we are completely here for it.

The Senior Editor of music company Bandcamp and Pitchfork contributor Marcus J. Moore has been signed on to the project titled “The Butterfly Effect: How Kendrick Lamar Ignited the Soul of Black America.”

Moore has been a major fan of Lamar’s and has a wide breadth of work centering around the four-time Grammy winner's music and rise to fame. He hopes to use this knowledge and passion for the Compton native's work to craft his book.

"It centers on three albums—good kid, m.A.A.d cityTo Pimp a Butterfly, and DAMN.— and examines how Lamar charted a personal and societal awakening in America," Moore told Pigeons and Planes of the biography. "It details how his story directly connects to the charged spirits of art and revolution. Ultimately, the biography explores the broad global impact of Mr. Lamar and his work.”

Moore will not only examine the "Loyalty" rapper's albums in the book, he will also be traveling into Compton to speak with friends, family, and those who grew up in the same area as the rapper. Lamar has reportedly been made aware of the book deal. Moore wants to do his the artist justice by securing interviews with those who could really help others understand Lamar's story.

"He's an iconic musician, and someone who truly appreciates the foundation of black art, using it as a vehicle to shed light on his community. He's never forgotten where he's come from and I think that's honorable,” Moore said. “He's also a conflicted soul who's always looking to improve, and is never satisfied with the status quo. He shapes culture and music in a way no other lyricist has. As a a big fan of his work, I want to shed adequate light on the man behind the music while giving proper context to his art.”
