For years and years, we’ve heard that LeBron James would be succeeding Michael Jordan to star in a sequel of the film Space Jam. Purported casting rumors and fake movie posters appeared all over to the point where this “news” was on its way to becoming an urban legend. The speculation intensified when LeBron and his company Spring Hill Entertainment signed a deal with Warner Bros. in 2015

The film was officially confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter on Monday that LeBron would be the film’s star and that Fast & Furious 6 and Star Trek Beyond’s Justin Lin will be the director. Lin is also co-writing the film with Andrew Dodge and Alfredo Botello.

The report doesn’t speak of a plotline yet, but how cool would it be to see players like Kevin Durant (who was also often speculated to headline the film), Dwayne Wade, Steph Curry, John Wall, Carmelo Anthony and others appear like Charles Barkley, Patrick Ewing and Mugsy Bogues appeared in the first film?

There is no word yet on when the film will start production or a timeline for its release.

90s kids, it’s time to get in formation!
