A$AP Rocky is enjoying his freedom from prison after being released from a Swedish penitentiary on Friday. He was spotted schmoozing with the stars at Kanye West's Sunday Service in Los Angeles.
Eagle-eyed fans of Kendall Jenner spotted Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, speaking to her while taking in the tunes at West's weekly church-adjacent live music session.
West was intimately involved in getting President Donald Trump invested in the situation. Trump said West called his son-in-law Jared Kushner to discuss Mayers' case and lobbied for more robust legal help.
Trump went even further than many thought he would, publicly bashing and threatening Sweden's prime minister and the country as a whole if they did not release Mayers. He sent top U.S. hostage negotiator Robert O’Brien to Stockholm to watch over Mayers' trial and said Sweden was putting their bilateral relationship with the U.S. in jeopardy by keeping Mayers in prison.
Mayers was released from prison and allowed to leave Sweden once the trial ended on Friday. Swedish analysts told TMZ on Friday that Mayers' release was a signal that judges were probably not going to convict him of assault.
Mayers was accused of violently beating 19-year-old Mustafa Jafari on June 30 with two other people. Videos shared by Mayers himself and others showed Jafari following the group accosting them repeatedly before the attack.
The Swedish judges will release their verdict on August 14.
