Are you a working professional or entrepreneur looking to start a business in the Los Angeles area? AARP California and the Urban League in Los Angeles have partnered with Vector90, a shared workspace company, to offer a series of training workshops called The Business of Small Business: Entrepreneurial Workshop Training Series.

Developed with the goal of growing and supporting Black millennial entrepreneurship in the Los Angeles area, the entrepreneurial workshops will provide an overview of business ownership in the city through detailed segments on funding, brand power and more, led by local working professionals who became successful entrepreneurs.

“The Business of Small Business workshops are a great start for people to turn their passion into profit,” said Nancy McPherson, AARP California state director. “We are proud to support the work of the Los Angeles Urban League and help sustain small business development in Los Angeles. We believe entrepreneurship is a path to helping communities, to employment and to building wealth. We hope attendees will walk away with the knowledge that can uplift their financial empowerment.”

The workshops are scheduled on Wednesdays, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. starting September 26 through October 24 and will take place at Vector90 – 6111 S. Gramercy Place. Los Angeles, CA 90027 – a co-working space and incubator for creators and entrepreneurs in the Crenshaw District of South Los Angeles. Early Registration is encouraged. Free parking is available, look for a sign that says “The Bread Yard.”

Participants can attend one or all of the following free workshops (We strongly encourage attending all):

  • Business 101- Wednesday, Sept. 26 – Learn the basics of business ownership and what you need to get started.

  • It Takes Money to Make Money: Funding Your Business for Success Wednesday, Oct. 3 – Prepare to raise the money you need to help grow your business, with a focus on business loans.

  • Exploring Technology in Your Business – Wednesday, Oct. 10 – Get informed about operating a business in the digital age.

  • Your Brand and Your Business – Wednesday, Oct. 17 – Explore the power of your brand and how to deliver your personal and business brand authentically.

  • Are You Ready for the Next Level? – Wednesday, Oct. 24 – Learn how to beat the odds to stay in business for the long haul.
