There's a touching TikTok video making its rounds on social media showing a 10-year-old
comforting his 18-month-old brother.

“The baby woke up in the middle of the night,” Gloria McIntosh, the children’s mother, wrote on her TikTok video. “I heard him fussing, so I just checked the camera to see if he would just fall back asleep and saw his brother showing the best example of love and patience."

The video showed Mason McIntosh awake at 3 a.m. trying to help his little brother, Greyson, go back to sleep.

What makes the story even more heartwarming is that the children’s mom watched the scene from her bedroom. The gesture moved the mom of six so much that she posted the footage as a token of her appreciation for Mason on TikTok.

“He stayed with him for almost 30 minutes, trying to get him back to sleep. I eventually came in and got the baby and asked my son why he didn’t just come and get me,” she wrote.

Mason’s uncanny awareness of his role as a big brother and acknowledgment of his mom’s hard work solicited a surprising response.

“He said he wanted me to get some rest because I did a lot that day,” Gloria wrote on the TikTok video. “While parenting is not his responsibility, just the fact that he understood that he is his brother’s keeper, and considered my long day as a mom, is much appreciated.”

The mom described to Today Parents how she felt watching the older brother care for his sibling.

“I was smiling the whole time,” she told Today Parents. “He has a love for Greyson that is unspeakable. I can’t even really explain it.”

The video has over 4.5 million views, and it's garnered praise from its viewers, too.

“When he crawled into the crib, I was done for… Amazing young man,” wrote one viewer.

“So sweet! This melted my heart,” another viewer commented.

As for the restless baby boy, after seeing that Greyson wasn’t falling asleep any time soon, mom went in to relieve Mason of his valiant efforts as an exceptional big bro.
