Affion Crockett has signed up for a role in the Kevin Hart/Josh Gad untitled comedy from Screen Gems/Miramax and first-timer Jeremy Garelick.
In the comedy, Hart will play a charismatic guy who provides best man services for socially-challenged guys, who can’t get anyone to stand by them on their wedding days.
Gad will play a groom-to-be, who finds himself in need of Hart’s services. Of course, all doesn’t work out exactly as planned, as hijinx and hilarity ensue.
In reading the press release, I immediately thought of the Will Smith/Kevin James pairing in 2004’s Hitch.
It also reminded me of the 2009 comedy, I Love You, Man, with Paul Rudd and Jason Segel.
Crockett will play a groomsman for hire.
Miramax’s Adam Fields and Will Packer are producing the film. Screen Gems’ President, Clint Culpepper, will oversee the project on behalf of Screen Gems.
Crockett can be seen next in Fox Searchlight’s Baggage Claim this fall.
