Update (June 14, 2019): It only took one day of deliberation for a jury to convict all five men charged with the gruesome murder of a 15-year-old boy last June. All of the men were convicted on all of the charges, which ranged from first-degree murder to gang assault.

The five men — Antonio Rodriguez Hernandez Santiago, Jonaiki Martinez Estrella, Jose Muniz and Manuel Rivera and Elvin Garcia — repeatedly stabbed Lesandro "Junior" Guzman-Feliz until he bled to death on a Bronx avenue.

They are all members of the Dominican gang “Trinitarios” and apologized to Guzman-Feliz’s family after realizing they killed the wrong person. They believed Guzman-Feliz was in a sex tape that was floating around Facebook involving one of their sisters.

Guzman-Feliz was not the man in the video and the gang’s members released numerous messages on Facebook professing their sorrow over the killing.

"I'm not going to have my son back — but those killers are not going to be outside killing another kid. We have to stop the violence and have a safe city," Guzman-Feliz’s mother, Leandra Feliz, told ABC7 on Friday.

Sentencing will take place July 16 and all of the men are facing life in prison.

Guzman-Feliz was alone when a large group of men approached him late one night in the Bronx. He ran into a local bodega for safety but five of the men dragged him out and cut him with machetes.

"My son is not coming back, but at least those thugs are not going to be on the street," his father Lisandro Guzman said.

Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. released a statement commemorating the young man’s life.

“Nearly one year ago our borough felt the unbearable pain of horrible loss. A young man, Lesandro 'Junior' Guzman-Feliz, was senselessly murdered in an act of heinous, reprehensible gang violence,” he said.

“Junior was everything we want our children to aspire to, and he was needlessly struck down. The pain of this act was made even worse due to the graphic public nature of the crimes, which played out on video for everyone to see. The entire world shared the sorrow of The Bronx.”

Original story: A 15-year-old was killed mistakenly for allegedly being connected to a sex tape circulating on social media involving a teen girl and another teenage boy.

Lesandro "Junior" Guzman-Feliz was murdered at 11:40 p.m. on Wednesday, June 20, while he was exiting Cruz and Chiky Grocery in the Bronx, New York. Five men of various ages stabbed the teen repeatedly with machetes with the attack caught on video, according to the New York Daily News. The men reportedly are affiliated with the Trinitarios, a Dominican gang.

The teen’s brother-in-law, Derek Grullon, told the Daily News he and Guzman-Feliz's sister received a slew of Facebook messages from the gang admitting to killing the teen in error.

“They said, ‘We had the wrong person,’” said Grullon, 19.

Guzman-Feliz's 17-year-old sister, Genesis Collado-Feliz, told the Daily News, “There’s no way. They knew who they were coming for.”

Guzman-Feliz had dreams of becoming a police officer. At 15, he was never in a fight and was a good student. His mother, Leandra Feliz, 38, said he loved video games and pizza. It has been difficult reckoning with her son's murder.

"They broke my heart — they killed my son, and they killed me at the same time," she said.

He spent a great deal of time with the Explorers program sponsored by the New York Police Department (NYPD) that specializes in mentoring and encouragement from officers.

On Sunday, the New York Daily News reported the five suspects in the teen's killing were arrested

As authorities continue their search, people online have offered assistance. A GoFundMe campaign was launched with an initial goal of $15,000 and has raised over $100,000.

According to ABC 7 New York, the family has called for a boycott of the bodega where the murder took place. Family members said workers in the now-shuttered store did nothing to help the young man.

"I don't understand how they let the store owners or employees or whoever is there let him come back out like that when he's cut in the main artery," said the victim's sister-in-law, Lone Feliz.
