nullAldis Hodge has been cast as MC Ren and Neil Brown Jr. as DJ Yella in Universal Pictures’ N.W.A biopic, "Straight Outta Compton."

nullThe pair of actors join O’Shea Jackson Jr., Corey Hawkins and Jason Mitchell, who were previously cast as Ice Cube, Dr. Dre and Eazy-E, respectively.

"Straight Outta Compton" is directed by F. Gary Gray, with original N.W.A. members, Ice Cube and Dr. Dre, producing. Matt Alvarez and Tomica Woods-Wright, are also producers on the project, which Will Packer is executive producing, alongside Gray, and Scott Bernstein.

Universal has also set an August 14, 2015 release date for the film.

Aldis Hodge most recently was seen in the Fox Searchlight feature "The East," opposite Alexander Skarsgård. His additional feature credits include "A Good Day To Die Hard" with Bruce Willis, and the Coen Brothers’ "Ladykillers."  Hodge has also been cast as a series regular on the soon-to-be seen Amazon series, "The After," and has a recurring role on AMC’s "Turn." He has appeared on multiple television shows including "Leverage," "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," and "Friday Night Lights," among others.

Neil Brown Jr. began his career on television and independent features. From roles in "The Walking Dead," to Columbia Pictures’ "Battle: Los Angeles," and Universal Pictures’ "Fast and Furious," as well as his recurring role as Clifford Danner on "Suits."

Executive Vice President of Production Jon Mone and Director of Development Sara Scott will oversee the project for Universal.
