Last month Cynthia profiled African-American female director Alex Stapleton, who directed the documentary Corman's World: Exploits Of A Hollywood Rebel, about the life and career of B movie king and genuine filmmaking legend Roger Corman.

Not only do his films represent, I think, the best and certainly most entertaining in B movie genre filmmaking from the 50's through the 70's, but it was Corman himself who gave so many important actors and directors their start in filmmaking such as James Cameron, Joe Dante, Martin Scorsese, Jonathan Demme, Robert De Niro, Francis Ford Coppola, Jack Nicholson… The list would stretch to Mars and back.

Movies as we know them today would not have exsisted if it wasn't for Corman and, as far as I'm concerned, the man who introduced Pam Grier to the world deserves a statue in his honor in every city everywhere.

But the good news is that if you missed it, Corman's World will be coming out on standard DVD and blu-ray on March 27th from Anchor Bay Entertainment

To read Cynthia's earlier piece on Stapleton and her struggles to make her film go HERE; below is a photo of Stapleton with the man himself Roger Corman.
