Stars from All American: Homecoming are reacting to the news that The CW series is coming to an end after its third season.

Sylvester Powell, who plays Jessie “JR” Raymond on the series, wrote a statement on social media, writing how “grateful” and how much he thanks God “for the opportunity to be able to bring this character to life for y’all over these past few years.”

“I appreciate the friendship and family we have built and I will cherish them forever,” he wrote on Instagram. “Thank the cast and crew that hustled for us behind the scenes, y’all put so much work in that allowed me to be present on screen living out my dreams. Y’all have shown me and my character so much love…I truly appreciate it. It’s not a sad thing that shows come to an end at some point its just apart of the journey and I LOVE what I do.”

He also wrote how “honored” he was to play his character, adding how he’s grown “as an actor and as a person understanding people who’s lives are similar in their real life.”

“I am grateful for everyone that watched, supported and was apart of this journey with me and I’m excited for y’all to see what’s next.”

Netta Walker, who plays Keisha McCalla, also made an Instagram post about the news.

She wrote, “Damn. Thankful to know you Keisha. I’ve learned so much from the last 3 seasons of loving you. I’ve been lucky enough to play this gorgeously flawed and ever growing young woman, for that my gratitude is immeasurable. I can’t wait for everyone to see the work this cast, crew and production team put into this final season. A lot of amazing people did wonderful work under extraordinary pressure this year, and I’m proud to say it’s our best season yet. Genuinely, I can’t wait for y’all to see it.”

Walker continued, “Thank you @kech99 for seeing all of us and creating this world for the culture. Thank you for giving me my tv debut (!!! insane !!!) but most of all for seeing me. Like, actually seeing me. I’m forever indebted to you and this production. So much love to our incredible crew, writers, cast and producers – we made 3 seasons y’all! I’m wrecked at the thought of not creating with you all everyday, but can’t wait to see y’all again down the line xx. Enjoy our final season of All American: Homecoming July 8th 🤎🖤 Love to everyone in the All American family! We did it for the culture ✊🏾 Love you forever, Miss Keisha.”

The CW announced the series’ cancellation this week, with showrunner and executive producer Nkechi Okoro Carroll releasing a statement describing being “devastated” at the series ending.

“I am so very grateful to have worked with this incredible cast and crew, led my Geffri Maya, to bring the authentic HBCU experience to your screens for the last three seasons,” Carroll wrote, as reported by Deadline.

“We made this show for the culture and thank our loyal audience and fans for taking this ride with us,” she wrote. “We made this show so that our community, our kids (and their dreams), could be seen and celebrated every week and we are proud to say we accomplished that mission…Especially with this exciting final season which we can’t wait to show you all. So with a heavy but proud heart, I give one final shoutout to our favorite Bringston Lions!”
