Amazon Studios is steadily announcing its new production lineup, with several new series and pilots greenlit over the past few weeks. Of interest to our readers, the studio has greenlit Hand of God, a one-hour drama pilot from Executive Producers Marc Forster, Ben Watkins, Ron Perlman, Brian Wilkins and Jeff King.

The show centers on “the powerful Judge Pernell Harris (Ron Perlman), a hard-living, law-bending married man with a high-end call girl on the side, who suffers a mental breakdown and goes on a vigilante quest to find the rapist who tore his family apart. With no real evidence to go on, Pernell begins to rely on ‘visions’ and ‘messages’ he believes are being sent by God through his ventilator-bound son.”

Andre Royo co-stars in the pilot as the slick, smart, gregarious, and greedy mayor Robert “Bobo” Boston, while Emayatzy Corinealdi plays the high-end call girl/confidante, Tessie.

Amazon has quickly established itself as a home for original content, and the company overall stands to earn $75 billion this year between its online store, devices, and streaming services. A report released last week claims that Amazon has overtaken Hulu and Apple to become the third largest streaming services provider, behind Netflix and Youtube

Amazon Studios is set to announce additional pilots in the coming weeks.
