A pair of high-wattage features have propelled two of music's biggest hits to the top of Billboard's Hot 100 chart.
On Monday, Billboard announced that Doja Cat's "Say So" was No. 1 on the Hot 100 charts and Megan Thee Stallion's "Savage" was No. 2, both pushed to the top by features from Nicki Minaj and Beyoncé respectively.
Both remixes were released last week and shut the internet down, turning the two viral hits into major chart-toppers thanks to the star power and musical prowess of Beyoncé and Minaj.
"Say So" and "Savage" have both spent time on the charts but began peaking in recent weeks thanks to their success online as the songs turned into dance trends, challenges and background songs for memes on TikTok, Instagram and Twitter.
Doja Cat's hit went from No. 6 to the top this week, and Megan Thee Stallion's song went from the fourth spot to No. 2 with the help of Beyoncé's additional bars.
Surprisingly, this is Minaj's first No. 1 song on the Billboard Hot 100 despite it being her 109th entry, according to Billboard. On Instagram, she thanked Doja Cat for the record. This is Doja Cat's first No. 1 song as well.
"Can't thank you guys enough for going so hard this past week to help us make history. I saw it all. You'll never understand how much you uplift me with the overwhelming love & support you continue to show. I love you so much. Like so much. So much. Dear @dojacat, thanks for trusting me with your baby. Hope I lived up to your expectations. You're so extremely talented & so deserving of this moment. what time r u showing ur boobs? Love, Nic," the star rapper said.
While Beyoncé is a veteran at this point with six different No. 1 songs, this is Megan Thee Stallion's highest-charting song ever.
It hasn't been confirmed officially, but many DJs online said this was the first time four Black women have held the top two spots on the Billboard chart.

Hopefully the history made today with Black women on the Billboard #Hot100 will allow more access to Black artists overall on the chart. ‘Cause it’s been some bullshit with these Billboard charts for a long time!

No like Megan went from making freestyles and going viral on twitter to making music with Beyoncé and entering the top 3 on billboard all within a year. Proud really doesn’t describe it.
