Angel Reese is one to watch. The 20-year-old became the 2023 NCAA National Championship breakout star after LSU’s victory over Iowa earlier this month. Since then, she has racked up millions of followers on social media and has become the student-athlete with the most NIL deals in college basketball.

The basketball star recently made an appearance on The Breakfast Club alongside her teammate Flau’jae Johnson. She discussed her newfound fame and the attention she has been getting from high-profile celebrities.

She said rappers Drake, Future, Dj Khaled and French Montana reached out to her over DM to congratulate her on her achievements.

“They just congratulated me. It’s all congratulations,” Reese said after Charlamagne tha God, The Breakfast Club co-host, suggested she should stay away from both Drake and Future because of their alleged reputations with women.

“Then Drake gonna say, ‘Yo, you know I got a basketball court at the crib?’ Did he say that yet?” joked DJ Envy.

Both Reese and Johnson laughed it off, emphasizing the rappers only reached out to congratulate her on her win.

Reese has received wide-spread support from the community after she was criticized for taunting Caitlin Clark during the final game. Tony Yayo, the rapper who first did the “You Can’t See Me” gesture, came to her defense.

“Any kind of sports, talking trash is a part of the game,” he told TMZ Sports. “I mean, it was for the championship game. It’s competition.”

The 20-year-old also received support from Shaquille O’Neal, who referred to her as “probably the greatest athlete to ever come out of LSU sports.” Reese said she called him afterwards to tell him the comment put pressure on her to succeed.

“He was like ‘I don’t give a f–,’ and I was like ‘alright, unc,’” she said.

Reese added that she may be willing to accept the compliment if she earns a Player of the Year award or another championship.

“I don’t think I’ve done enough,” she said.
