I have yet to see neither TRON nor its sequel, TRON: Legacy, but the upcoming animated TV-series addition to the franchise, TRON: Uprising, has piqued my interest. The ten-part series is said to be set chronologically between the two films. With this latest TRON project scheduled to air on Disney XD in January 2012, I should be able to catch up on the two films by then.

Reginald VelJohnson (Family Matters) and Meagan Holder (90210, Make It Or Break It) will voice the characters of Able and Ada, respectively. Mandy Moore, Elijah Wood, and Paul Reubens also lend their voices to TRON: Uprising.

According to TheDisneyBlog.com, the show’s synopsis is basically this:

Tron: Uprising follows the story of a young program named Beck as he is trained by Tron and becomes the arch-enemy of General Tesler.

I don’t know if that means anything to anyone reading this who has seen the two films, but for someone like me, it doesn’t tell me much.
