Shooting is underway in New York City, on actor Paul Bettany’s directorial debut (from his own script) – an indie feature titled Shelter.
Anthony Mackie stars, alongside Bettany’s wife, Jennifer Connelly, in a film whose plot is currently being kept under-wraps. Although the UK’s Daily Mail says the story follows Mackie and Connelly as a homeless pair who fall in love, as they explore how they came to be homeless.
No official confirmation on that, however. Although, based on these photos, it’s a plausible premise.
BiFrost Pictures is financing and producing the film, with Robert Ogden Barnum, Katie Mustard and Bettany co-producing.
Voltage Pictures shopped international rights at the Toronto International Film Festival.
Mackie will next be seen in George Tillman Jr.’s The Inevitable Defeat Of Mister And Pete in theaters on October 11, in limited release. He also recently joined Octavia Spencer to co-star alongside Kevin Costner in a drama titled Black And White.
