Adding yet
another film to his increasingly long list of film credits, come news that Anthony Mackie will now join Chiwetel Ejiofor, Kate Winslet, Aaron Paul
and Casey Affleck in the new police
crime thriller Triple Nine, which we
reported about last month, and which will be directed by John Hillcoat (Lawless, The Road, The Proposal).
The film, written
by Matt Cook, tells the story of a group of corrupt cops who plan a major heist.
The title
comes from the police code “triple nine,” which is used when a police officer is in trouble and needs immediate help.
Open Road recently has come on board to handle
the domestic theatrical distribution of the indie produced project which is being
financed by Worldview Entertainment,
Surefire and Sierra/Afinity.
