Last fall, Antoine Fuqua inked a production partnership with IM Global – one of the leading film financing, sales and distribution companies in the world. 

The deal will see IM Global develop, produce and finance feature film and TV projects with Fuqua’s production company – Fuqua Films.

The news came on the heels of Fuqua’s most recent effort, "The Equalizer," starring Denzel Washington, with the boxing drama "Southpaw," which stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Forest Whitaker, up next.

We can also now add "Patrolman P" to the director’s to-do list, which will be a drama series for HBO based on the 2013 documentary of the same name, which told the early 1970s New York-set crime story of corrupt cop, William Phillips, who agreed to become an undercover agent to expose what was, at the time, rampant corruption within the New York Police Department, in exchange for immunity from a bribery charge. The evidence he eventually collected led directly to the indictment of 30 New York City cops. But the tables quickly turned when Phillips himself was convicted of a double-homicide. Decades later and still in prison, Phillips continued to insist that he was the victim of a massive police conspiracy.

"Patrolman P" is listed as "in development." It’s not stated, but I’m assuming this adaptation will be a movie for HBO, and not a series; or possibly an event/mini-series. 

“Antoine is such a great creative force whose career is going from strength to strength and we look forward to helping him and Kat [Samick] take their company to the next level as a production powerhouse,” said IM Global CEO Stuart Ford.

Fuqua is currently prepping to shoot "The Magnificent Seven" with Denzel Washington.
