Antoine Fuqua has been tapped by Fox to direct a thriller titled Narco Sub, from a script penned by David Guggenheim.
Fuqua’s next – The Equalizer, starring Denzel Washington and Chloë Grace Moretz, which marks the first re-teaming of Washington and director since Training Day – is set for a September 26 release.
He’ll also be directing Forest Whitaker and Jake Gyllenhaal in the boxing drama Southpaw.
Oh, and by the way, Fuqua also reportedly has offers from MGM to direct the remake of The Magnificent Seven (the 1960 American western directed by John Sturges, which was itself a remake of Akira Kurosawa’s Seven Samurai), and from Sony who wants him to return for a sequel to The Equalizer, in what the studio likely hopes will be a film franchise for star Denzel Washington.
It’s nice to be wanted.
