The new trailer for Dan Gilroy’s upcoming film, Velvet Buzzsaw, premiered online Thursday. If it’s anywhere near the tone of his previous thriller, the acclaimed Nightcrawler, viewers are in for their fair share of thrills and tension. Starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Rene Russo, Zawe Ashton and Natalia Dyer, Velvet Buzzsaw is set against the backdrop of the contemporary Los Angeles art scene. Gyllenhaal portrays Morf Vanderwalt, an art critic who unearths a series of pieces by an unknown artist.
In the true vein of a horror thriller, supernatural events seem to ensue. Diggs is fresh off the acclaim for his performance in the indie favorite Blindspotting and Ashton currently stars in BBC One/Netflix’s Wanderlust.
The film is set to premiere at Sundance on January 27, before premiering on Netflix on February 1.
