A classic painting received a hip-hop makeover thanks to the imagination of one visual artist.

Afrofuturist artist Jessi Jumanji posted her latest creation on Instagram. The piece is a modern rendition of "American Gothic," titled "American Ratchet." The subjects in the digital collage are none other than rapper Cardi B and her husband and fellow artist Offset.

Nothing was altered from the original, except both Bardi and Offset's faces replace the female and male subjects of the 1930 classic. Jumanji's followers flooded her comments with notes of approval.

"???????????? funny af," one wrote.

"This is genius," another chimed.

A quick glance down her Instagram shows Jumanji's aesthetic. Last November, Blavity spoke with the Memphis-born creative about a popular photo series that contributed to her online celebrity. The 27-year-old's "Distant Relatives" collection showcased Black celebrities with their doppelgängers of decades and centuries past.

"Mainstream media represents us in many ways, so I try to create authentic art that inspires people to see black life from a different perspective that shows our beauty, brilliance and resilience," Jumanji told Blavity last year.

The side-by-side photos were not only uncanny, but visually stunning. It appears Jumanji's commitment to her craft is paying off. Paper Magazine named the freelance artist one of the 100 people who will be taking over 2019.

As usual, great work, Jessi!
