The family of late lifestyle influencer Ashlee Jenae is seeking answers about her suspicious death during a birthday trip earlier this month in Tanzania with her fiancé.
What did Ashlee Jenae’s family say about her death?
On Sunday, the family released a statement on Instagram about Jenae, born Ashly Robinson, who was celebrating her 31st birthday on April 5 at a luxury villa at the Zuri Zanzibar with her fiancé, whose name is Joe McCann.
“But just days later, that dream turned into our family’s worst nightmare,” they wrote in the statement. “Ashly was found unconscious in her villa and was rushed to a local hospital, where her death was confirmed hours later.”
They continued, “At this time there is an active investigation into the circumstances surrounding Ashly’s suspicious passing. Although we have many questions, we are placing our trust in the officials in Zanzibar and are working closely with them as we seek clarity and answers.”
The family has also stated that any information not directly released by them should be treated as “unverified and not be considered as factual,” despite being published online or on social media.

Jenae posted a video on April 3 of McCann on one knee proposing to her during a safari.
Her last post on April 5 showed her feeding a giraffe while standing near red and white rose petals that spelled out “HBD Ashlee.”
“Chapter 31 and I’m exactly where I need to be,” Jenae captioned the post.
