The former Fort Valley State University employee at the center of the Alpha Kappa Alpha sex scandal has been identified, and her attorney is publicly declaring his client’s innocence.

Alecia Johnson, former advisor to the chapter, resigned from her position working for the university president’s office in April after news of the scandal became public. She is accused of leading a prostitution ring in which pledges have sexual relations with prominent men to pay for their sorority dues.

“She’s not a pimp, and she’s not a madam. None of that,” Adrian Patrick, Johnson’s attorney, told WSB-TV. “She’s not guilty. She did not do anything.”

Patrick believes his client made the wrong move when she handed in her resignation.

“As soon as I got on the case, I said that she should not have done it because my position is: You’re innocent in this situation,” Patrick told the outlet. “Your resignation will be (turned) to make it seem as if you’re guilty of something.”

Patrick also defended Alpha Kappa Alpha’s honor.

“I just think that’s incredulous,” Patrick said. “I mean, I know people want to be in a sorority. I got that part. I just don’t think you’re going to sell your body. Plus, it’s inconsistent with the reputation of Alpha Kappa Alpha.”

The investigation is still underway, but Patrick says his client’s reputation has already suffered. He questions the credibility of the tips that sparked the investigation.

“I think what we need to do is look at the original accusation, the accuser or accusers, and question their credibility and then, at that point, we’ll get a better answer in this case,” Patrick said.

Johnson has not been arrested or charged in connection with the allegations.
