Of course, we’re all already wondering what Ava DuVernay will do next, after "Selma;" and the answer seems
to be something made for television.

The fact that
cable television is becoming the venue for more creative, adventurous and
risk-risking projects for high profile A-List directors, such as David Fincher,
Steve McQueen and Steven Soderbergh, who all have projects currently on that format, or in development, it is certainly becoming a medium that increasingly more filmmakers are
turning to for projects that they know the studios won’t have any interest in.

In a recent
interview with the London Guardian (HERE), Ms. DuVernay revealed that her next
project will most likely be an 8-10 episode cable TV series that she is currently
developing.

She did not
reveal what network the project may eventually call home, nor any details on what exactly it’ll be about, except to say that it will focus
on the “black experience in America,”
and that she plans to direct all the episodes herself, as did Cary Fukanaga with his stunning HBO series "True Detective."
