Remember when Azealia Banks accused Russell Crowe of assaulting her? According to Vulture, Banks has launched a GoFundMe to raise funds in order to file a lawsuit against the actor. She created the campaign on Sunday, June 24.

At the time of this article's posting, the fund has raised over $2,000 of its $100,000 goal. Banks confirmed any money she wins from the lawsuit will go toward charities protecting the ocean.

The polarizing artist has spoken about the incident (which, also sparked tensions between her and RZA) in several interviews. Banks claims Crowe spit at her, choked her and called her the n-word at a party hosted by RZA.

Banks filed a police report in 2016, but the L.A. County district attorney's office decided not to press charges against Crowe because it decided any actions taken by Crowe were “justified to prevent the imminent violence threatened by Banks.”

Banks disagreed then, and disagrees now.

“Crowe called me a n*gger, choked me and spat on me … if I were a white singer he wouldn’t have even thought about laying a finger on me,” Banks wrote on her campaign's page. “So many things like this happen in the entertainment industry and it’s time that ALL these perpetrators get reprimanded so they STOP this violent behavior!!”

Banks also accused witnesses of gaslighting her when she publicly called him out.

“Russell Crowe spit on me at a party in 2016 and denied it, had a group of people gaslight me causing irreparable damage to my acting career and my reputation as well as loads of emotional damage,” she added.
