Bad Bunny’s historic and electric Super Bowl LX Halftime Show captured the world’s attention, but eagle-eyed viewers may have spotted that the Puerto Rican music superstar had a reference to an iconic Black filmmaker during his performance.
During Bad Bunny’s performance of “Monaco,” which was almost midway into his set for the night, he did a double dolly shot and performed straight into the camera, similar to the iconic dolly shots in Spike Lee’s legendary filmography.
Many fans on X, formerly known as Twitter, immediately clocked it.
“The Spike Lee dolly shot? That’s a BAD bunny, for real,” wrote one person.
Someone else said, “bad bunny dolly shot while spike lee’s in the audience ohhhhh hell yeah.”
Bad Bunny and Spike Lee have met and embraced each other on a number of occasions
The musician and filmmaker have been spotted together in public multiple times and have been shown to be complimentary toward one another.
Back in 2022, Lee posted a photo on Instagram of them in Miami for a Formula 1 race. Lee wrote on Instagram, “My 🇵🇷Brother BAD BUNNY And I, Here Miami For Formula 1 Race. YA-DIG? SHO-NUFF😜😜😜😜😜😜😜😜😜😜😜😜 @badbunnypr.”
Then, just last year, they were seen hugging each other while attending a New York Yankees game at the same time.
Lee also spoke about Bad Bunny during a panel back in October 2025, shortly after he was announced as the Super Bowl Halftime Show headliner, noting how the announcement had people in an uproar, and the folks were “stupid” for not realizing Puerto Rico is a part of the United States.
