Ashley Taylor Gerren, who starred on BET reality TV series Baldwin Hills, died in her sleep on Sunday reports Metro. Her cause of death is not yet known. 

The 30-year-old TV star and model, who is also known as Gerren Taylor, is survived by her daughter and mourned by dozens of her fans, as well as colleagues and family members.

Actor Ray Cunningham was one of many who took to Twitter to mourn the loss.

"Just got the worst news. I hate it’s on the internet already," Cunningham wrote. "RIP to my BET fam, my babes Gerren (Baldwin Hills)."

The Los Angeles native started her modeling career at the age of 12 when she was spotted by a talent scout, according to MEAWW. She soon became known as the "new Naomi (Campbell)" and was the youngest model ever signed by the runway division of LA Models. 

"[Gerren] has the height. She has the walk. And she looks natural fresh and beautiful," LA Models President Heinz Holba told CBS News in 2003, noting the model's 6-feet stature. 

In 2007, the actor made her appearance on Baldwin Hills, a show which featured teens from the affluent Baldwin Hills district in Los Angeles. Taylor stood out as the star attraction as the show aired for three seasons. She also starred in the 2007 documentary, America is Beautiful, which focused on the country's obsession with beauty. 

When she later signed with the Ford Modeling Agency, the fashion icon worked with designers such as Tommy Hilfiger, Tracy Reese and Betsey Johnson.

The mother of one was also passionate about her responsibilities at home, often showing off her daughter on social media.

Fans expressed shock after hearing the tragic news of her passing.

"Damn rip ash," rapper Malcolm D Kelley wrote in an Instagram comment.

"I’m so sorry this happened to you… god protect your baby RIP Garren," another person wrote.

 

Taylor starred on Baldwin Hills from 2007 to 2009 per the New York Post.
