Barack Obama went to Twitter on Sunday to announce that he has tested positive for COVID-19, but he’s feeling fine.
“I’ve had a scratchy throat for a couple days, but am feeling fine otherwise,” he wrote. “Michelle and I are grateful to be vaccinated and boosted, and she has tested negative. It’s a reminder to get vaccinated if you haven’t already, even as cases go down.”
According to CNN, the former president returned to Washington, D.C. recently after spending the winter in Hawaii. Obama tested positive in D.C., a source told CNN.

It’s a reminder to get vaccinated if you haven’t already, even as cases go down.
The 60-year-old has been encouraging the public to get vaccinated in the past year while also advocating for public health measures such as masking and social distancing, USA TODAY reports. Obama is one of many high-profile politicians who has tested positive during the pandemic. According to GovTrack, at least 144 representatives and senators have contracted COVID-19 in the past two years.
About 65.2% of U.S. adults are fully vaccinated while 44.3% of the fully vaccinated have received a booster shot, according to The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
