Live-action remakes of Disney classics is the new wave and we're here for it.

The highly anticipated Beauty and the Beast hits theaters this month and from the promotion, it's going to be a big deal. For starters, Emma Watson looks exactly like Belle and that's exciting all by itself. Sources told Teen Vogue that she added her own personal feminist twist to the story, making Belle the inventor and not her father. She invents a washing machine to do her chores so she can spend more time doing what she loves–reading. She also teaches other girls how to read because, in their small gender stereotype town, only boys are allowed to go to school. *Scoff*

The feminist twist isn't the only change we'll be experiencing on the big screen. The film will also showcase two kisses between interracial characters, making it the second and third interracial kisses in a live-action Disney movie, ever. I know you're checking your calendars but yes, this is just happening in the year 2017. The first interracial kiss in a Walt Disney Pictures production took place in 2004's The Princess Diaries 2: A Royal Engagement between Julie Andrews and Hector Elizondo. I'm sure many of you are wondering, "what about Brandy's Cinderella?" That was technically a TV film produced by the Wonderful World of Disney. Close but no cigar.

The sweet moment occurs at the end when Belle breaks the spell and turns the household items back into their human forms. Madame de Garderobe, the wardrobe, and her husband Cadenza, the harpsichord (played by Audra McDonald and Stanley Tucci respectively) spend most of their time apart as antiques throughout their lives so it's a sweet reunion that should be celebrated.

It was also revealed that the film will feature Disney's first gay character played by Josh Gad as LeFou, the sidekick to Gaston, who goes back and forth between admiring and being attractive to the film's main antagonist.

Shout out to Disney for breaking down these boundaries one by one. It's long overdue.
