As part of Jackie Aina’s collaboration with makeup brand Anastasia Beverly Hills, the talented beauty vlogger is paying homage to Black women who have changed the aesthetic of beauty in music and popular culture.
Clearly inspired by the forward-moving nature of Black culture, Aina’s limited edition 14-shade eyeshadow palette, which debuted yesterday in stores and online, features hues like “Lituation,” “Dwollahs,” "Edges" and “Shookington.” With glistening shimmers and sultry earth tones, the palette is what Black and brown girls’ eyeshadow dreams are made of.
However, the palette is just the icing on the cake from this Jackie Aina and Anastasia Beverly Hills collab; the campaign photos are truly everything.
Aina channels her inner Lil’ Kim and Foxy Brown with memorable looks from both lyricists’ catalogs from the early ‘90s.
“Being inspired by other Black women comes completely organically and natural,” Aina told Teen Vogue. “I got to curate every single look in the shoot and Anastasia did an amazing job bringing those visions to light in the best way possible. Nothing was too over the top! It felt amazing being able to express myself not only through the palette but through the entire campaign.”
The beauty guru also shouted out Megan Thee Stallion as a force in music who is bringing together the rap community.
On top of her latest campaign with Anastasia, Aina has another major life moment to celebrate. She recently got engaged to her longtime boyfriend Denis Asamoah during a Grecian getaway.
