It seems as that the enthusiastic response to BET’s dramedy web series, 8 Days A Week, has gotten the show an upgrade. BET plans to move the series from the World Wide Net to Network Television, with a plush spot after their popular music video countdown show, 106 & Park. Follow the happy trail to find out more…
8 days a Week, follows a group of Hollywood hopefuls as they navigate the L.A scene with dreams of hitting it big. The series stars Skye Townsend and actor/rapper Justin “Irocc” Williams. Currently, you can view the series online at BET.com
Speaking of BET, they released an official statement in regards to the show’s move from web to television:
“We’re thrilled to bring our hit web series 8 Days a Week from BET.com to BET,” said Loretha Jones, President of Original Programming at BET Networks. “We think the younger members of our on air audience will connect with this storyline as it reflects the hopes and dreams of young people in the music and entertainment industry.”Source: UPTOWN Magazine
So what does this tell us…that dreams really do come true? A web series can get wider distribution and attention if people WATCH, whether it has a behemoth like Viacom behind it or an up and coming filmmaker like Issa Rae.
