As fans mourn the death of Tina Turner, some of the biggest celebrities in the world are also sending their condolences and paying tribute to the iconic singer. One of Turner’s closest friends and longtime collaborator, Mick Jagger, expressed his sorrow on Twitter.
“I’m so saddened by the passing of my wonderful friend Tina Turner,” Mick Jagger wrote, posting some of his favorite photos with Turner. “She was truly an enormously talented performer and singer. She was inspiring, warm, funny and generous. She helped me so much when I was young and I will never forget her.”

Angela Bassett, who also collaborated with Tina on several projects, paid tribute in a statement to Deadline.
“I’m so saddened by the passing of my wonderful friend Tina Turner,” Bassett told Deadline. “She was truly an enormously talented performer and singer. She was inspiring, warm, funny and generous. She helped me so much when I was young and I will never forget her.”
Dionne Warwick, another one of Turner’s longtime friends, also released a statement to comfort the family.
“Not only will I miss that eternal ball of energy named Tina Turner, but the entire world will also find this void in their lives,” Warwick said according to Deadline. “My condolences to her husband and other members of her family. Rest in Peace my friend!”
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame described Turner as somebody who “worked hard to reimagine the role of a Black woman in rock & roll — one that was firmly placed front and center. “
Diana Ross said on Twitter that she is shocked and saddened.

Barack Obama described the iconic entertainer as raw, powerful and unstoppable.
“And she was unapologetically herself—speaking and singing her truth through joy and pain; triumph and tragedy,” Obama wrote. “Today we join fans around the world in honoring the Queen of Rock and Roll, and a star whose light will never fade.”

As Blavity previously reported, a spokesperson confirmed that Turner died on Wednesday in her home in Switzerland. The legendary singer was 83 years old.
